CBS News Early Show Rocks Your Baby

The folks over at the early show did a short segment this morning on products that can help your child sleep at night. And no, they weren't talking about Ambien! Ha!

They also have an article that details what they talked about:

Restaurants Lee's Summit - B2 "A Burger Boutique"

Good evening to all you fellow facebookers, bloggers, and good ol' fashion surfers!

Bob and I have now met three times for lunch over the past few months at a great new place here in LS! The name of this place is "B:2 a burger boutique". If you haven't heard of it, it's a sister restaurant of "Blanc Burgers+Bottles", a trendy and popular restaurant in Kansas City's Westport area.

If you haven't been there, you've got to check it out! It's sandwhiched in between the new Mcalister's and Sakura in the new Summit Fair Shopping Center on 470 & Chipman. Don't get us wrong, we are still the biggest fans of LS Downtown, but we just had to share this...

The first thing you'll notice is the unique decor. It's like you just stepped into a Retro 70's dance club; not a burger joint. It's really cool though with blue, white, and glass. Very clean look!

Of course, you're probably more worried about the food than the color of the chairs, right? Well, you won't be disappointed! They have great ingredients purchased from fresh, locally owned farms. They even cut their own fries right there! This is a sign of a chef that really takes pride in his work, in our opinion. Here's a link to their menu:

"B2 Burger's Menu"

They also have a selection of more than 100 beers (bottled). If that leaves you feeling a little overwhelmed, then just speak with Dustin behind the bar.

He is their resident expert on their extreme domestic selection! He'll take you on a tour of some great beers like Skrimshaw or the Denver IPA. Of course you can have a plain old Samuel Adams if you'd like.

There are only two things at a burger joint that are really important though (besides the beer); burgers & fries. Again, you won't be disappointed! From their very own homemade ketchup to their amazing "truffle fries". That's right, truffle oil and fries....mmmm! The burgers are even served on several different types of bread (fresh from the Farmer's Market).

Ok, there you have it, one of Lee's Summit's new hot spots! Oh, and if you aren't signed up for Groupon.com yet, you should check it out. B2 just released $10 for $20 coupons there.

Be sure to tell Dustin we said HI!

Mel Gibson

Wow! Who could have guessed that my post about "The Movie Signs with Mel Gibson", could have gotten me emails from people upset with Mel! I hadn't even heard about the crazy Mel Gibson rant when I posted it. I sure have now! If you haven't heard it, check it out here:

Oh and here's a more complete story if you are interested:

Just thought I'd share. I think this proves that Mel is a great actor, because I sure never would have thought he would act that way; allegedly.

P.S. If you think this will affect his career, I wouldn't bet on it. Since he has all his own money to finance, produce, etc. He'll probably do just fine for the lead in his next film!

Really Diggin' the New iPhone 4 Commercials!

If you haven't seen these new iPhone 4 commercials, you've got to take a minute. It will be worth it! I'm no huge iPhone fan, but I'm definitely a Mac when it comes to marketing! These guys are just amazing with what they come up with!

The Movie "Signs" with Mel Gibson

Good afternoon! Bob here. I know...Patsy's DH. Ughh.

So, it's Sunday afternoon when I'm writing this (July 11th). See, by putting a date in there it'll make me get this posted faster. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

Anywho, I just got finished watching the movie "Signs" by M. Night Shyamalan (sha-muh-lahn). That's how I'm sayin' it anyway.

If you are like me, it may have been a while since you saw it. Personally, I think it's been at least a year or maybe two, I don't know. We were talking about it during a BBQ that we went to yesterday and just thought it would be cool to watch on our Netflix streaming. Not plugging them; we just have Netflix Streaming.

So, after seeing a movie that I've already seen before, what could I possibly say to you that would be worth reading?

I almost cried. Maybe a tear dripped out, I'm not sure? Ok, I'm sure. I'm just amazed at how good that movie was! I mean if you are really looking for a movie to turn down the lights, close the shades, and get out your comfy blanket for, it's this movie. But, don't think you're falling asleep during this one...

I realize that the effects were minimal. I also get that the action itself moves a little slow. However, if you really let yourself go to the shear drama of the situation, you get sucked in! I'm talkin' super sucked in!

Let's face it, even if you aren't a fan of Shyamalan, you can't bet against Joaquin Phoenix and Mel Gibson? These guys are just suspense masters. Add that to the fact that the world is ending, all the while a Preacher who is determined to hate God for the rest of his life (and afterlife) is mourning the death of his wife, which he witnessed. Then you've got the whole family (father, brother, daughter & son) trapped within a mile of what appears to be a full on invasion! All this and there is no cheesy effects to screw things up; I think it's genius.

Personally, I could have used a little more CG alien and maybe some ships, but I realize that I'm not the norm. I also realize that this frustrating style is also what built up an anxious-nous that helped me get sucked in, in the first place. But you've got to give that style credit; if...you can just make it to the crop circle discovery part, you're in!

Then fast-forward to the part where M. Knight does his cameo as the driver who falls asleep at the wheel and kills the preachers wife. Mel Gibson and Knight have a final confrontation, in which Gibson thinks that Knight's character is probably calling him just before committing suicide. Knight finally apologizes, Mel cries, and Knight speeds off saying, "don't open the closet father, I caught one in there and trapped him!".

Mel then masterfully plays a father that is literally *****ing his pants, but somehow manages to talk to his kids like nothing is wrong to keep them from worrying.

All the while, this father's faith is clearly suspect. Correct that; he's faithful that God exists, just not that God is his friend. That's scary stuff if you ask me!

Finally the whole movie really plays with our heart strings by mixing Mel's final return to faith during which Mel's son almost dies in his arms twice within 15 minutes!!!!

Just when you think the whole thing is over, he gives you one last surprise...which of course I won't ruin.

I just couldn't pass up doing a post on this movie. It's even Sunday, which means Church and reverence and all things God. Not that I only think about God on Sunday; it's just magnified that day. This movie actually put a few things into perspective. I've been thinking about work and money and material stuff a lot lately. It all seems a little pointless right now. With a beautiful wife, wonderful daughter, and new baby on the way along with several other blessings I have, it's truly a lot to be thankful for!

You may or may not get this same feeling when you watch this movie, but I promise this movie will make you ask this question:

"Which type of person are you?":

1.) The type that believes that there is no coincidences in life, and that someone or something is watching out for you and yours?

2.) The type that believes there is no one really looking out for you, and your life is based on luck.

I know what my answer is!

God Bless!

We Can Do Better! Can't We?

Good evening! By reading this you are my friend in some way shape or form, or at least I want you to be. That's ok to say, I think.. isn't it?

Anyway, me & Bob (my DH) are actually writing this post together. We've been working on this one for a little bit longer than normal, because Mr. Someone is Mr. Picky! He just told me that he doesn't like it when I call him DH because he always forgets what it means; at least for a second and then goes "Please don't call me that...blah blah". Ok my Dear Husband...

Anyway, we've both been talking lately about how our business, our website, our blog, our facebook page and tweven our twitter account (yes that was on purpose) are almost as old as our daughter. For us, that means it's been a part of our lives everyday for the past two years. Some nights it all made us laugh, some cry, though rarely angry. That would just be weird to get angry about this stuff. Or would it? What I mean is that we are angry that we haven't taken it more serious. Not that we didn't before, but I mean take it serious by being more, well... how do you say it without being critical??? Oh it's "consistent"!

And I also don't mean that we want to post something just to post something, more consistent, but really say something more, but be consistent. Unlike I just did. Ok, starts tomorrow! Ha!

Seriously though, we were reading one of Anjanette's blogs and we just saw it, plain as day. We haven't been putting in the time and it shows. Him and I have been talking for a while that we have some really fun & helpful blog ideas, but we just never seem to get around to them. But not anymore!

From now on, we are going to put our best foot forward for all of our friends and or the people we want to be our friends.

So, "what does that mean", you say? It means that we can't do everything we want at once, it means things will just get better for those of you that decide to read what ever crazy stuff we decide to make permanent in cyber space.

One of our first endeavors will be to do some Movie Reviews. I know that sounds like,
"Crazy just left the building!"
, but I think Bob's really getting excited about this one. So, it'll probably be mostly him. But if there is one thing my husband is good with it's movies. At least he's very critical of them; though he gives equally high praises to the good ones as well. Should be good stuff!

We also have some great ideas about our Youtube Videos, written interviews, some great top 10 lists, some just plain funny stories and even some more critical product reviews, but I'll just have to save all that for another post.

We hope you enjoy our new posts, and we look forward to your feedback!

I hope you all had a blessed weekend!

Patsy & DH (Dear Husband).

Am I too old to have a baby?

Well, obviously not, because I'm pregnant! But what I mean is, now that I am 37, today ;-), I'm past the 35 years old cap, so it would appear that I am at "risk"!

I had my first appointment yesterday, didn't see the doctor, but I talked with a very nice nurse that explained to me everything that I need to expect. And one big chunk of this meeting was about the fact that I am over 35. Hearing the words "being at risk" when you're pregnant is not really what you want to hear! It would appear that there is more options for us to do more testings; ultra-sound, amnion, genetic test, etc... I lost track of everything she said, but bottom line it's nice to see that all this is available (and that the insurance will take care of it :-) but also, it was a little bit overwhelming.

Anyway, I was just wondering if anybody went through this whole process? I'm just not sure what to expect. I feel pretty confident that being 37 is not gonna be a problem. I think of myself as a pretty healthy person; still work out and eat good (must of the time ;-) so as long as I keep being active and eat healthy, I should be fine, right?

Anyway, I feel younger at heart and everybody thinks I'm 27 instead of 37... so bring it on baby!

There is no such thing as a "false positive"!

OK! Now that the word got out, might as well make it public! I peed on a stick and the 2 barres, or the + came up! (that is because I did 2 tests :-) I'm pregnant! The reason why I did 2 tests was because my DH didn't believe me! Well, guess what? There is no such thing as a false positive!!! So daddy! We're having another baby!

I'm sure that by now, you just can't wait to ask me the next question: "when are you due?" The answer is: "I don't know!" We're having our first appointment tomorrow morning, finally! I feel like I've been waiting for that appointment for 2 months. I cannot imagine how anxious I will be when we'll be able to find out the sex. And yes, we want to know! And no, we don't care if it's a boy or a girl! Never know, it might be one of each :-(

Seriously, I had that though last week. Hear me out! I'm trying to count how far along I am and I'm looking at my belly and it doesn't add up! I'm huge already! I bought a Bella band, which I wore for a week before a got frustrated with it, to finally have to go and get myself some maternity clothes. OH! And one more thing that you might not know; my husband's mom is a twin! Isn't every two generations or something? What if I'm pregnant with twins???

OK, I need to calm down! I will know tomorrow, and I'll let know either we're going to be a family of 4 or 5! Until then, I'll try to stay calm and not throw up everywhere... OK, not that bad! I just feel bad sometime... mostly when I need to eat something!

Future new mommy , again :-)

TwitterFeed

Just subscribed to this service that connects my Facebook, Twitter, & Blog! We'll see how it works, let me know what you think.

The Latest Shrek

We finally took our daughter to see her first movie last week; that was fun. We wanted to go see Toy Story 3, but it was sold out. We could have went for the 3D version, but didn't think little bit would wear the glasses. So we picked Shrek 4 instead.

Anyway, no big surprise that she was much more interested in the popcorn than the movie. It was cool to have the three of us in a movie though! However, I must say that they really phoned this one in on Shrek 4. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the biggest Shrek fan ever anyway, but wow this was a real sleeper. I guess it doesn't help that you already know what's going to happen; Shrek gets the girl (or the ogre) and lives happily ever after.

Maybe it's Mike Meyers that's the problem? I mean, what happened to this guy? I loved the Austin Powers movies but he has kind of fallen off lately. Did anyone see that Love Guru? Sure seemed like a flop to me. Well, anyone that's been that successful deserves another chance...we'll see what happens.

Was thinking of going to see Toy Story 3 anyway, maybe that would be more age appropriate???

Good morning; Happy Fourth!

Can't wait to go swimming today and go watch some fireworks tonight!

Enjoy your fourth of July weekend!!

Dad's Dilemna

This is Champagne Daddy here (Bob), in lieu of Champagne Mommy (Patsy)!

I realize that there aren't many Dad's reading this blog, but I just have to weigh in on something that's been bothering me lately. Maybe it's because my daughter is getting older now (almost 3) or maybe it's because Patsy has been working more?

Anyway, a couple of us Dad's were talking the other day about how uncomfortable it is to take our daughter to the bathroom in public places. I know it sounds weird, but it just is! First of all, you have to walk your daughter into a fairly small room with guys standing there with their stuff hanging out. Then you have to rush her into an even smaller stall...and let's just say that these stalls aren't exactly kept the way Mommy would like them to be!

Now we've entered "no man's land" with a three year old and she's trying to say hello to the newcomers through the crack of the stall door. So we continue on with the process which is painful at best. God forbid I might have to go also? Let me tell you that if I can hold it at this point, I will!

Finally, we've completed the process and we're off, right? WRONG! Of course we still have to wash our hands. Well, if you think men can't hit a toilet, they are even worse with the sink. I've yet to see a men's room sink that isn't covered with previous handwasher's nasty water. How you get the little girls hands under the faucet without getting her pretty little dress all wet is beyond me.

Ok, so now we're heading out and ready to go Bye-Bye. However, I always get the feeling that because we've been gone so long, that all of the mothers that see me leaving the Men's room with her are giving me the evil eye like I'm some kind of pervert.

So maybe I'm venting here or maybe I'm just plain trippin', but it seems to me that Dad's deserve a little extra credit on this one. So next time you see a Dad workin' his way out of a men's room with his daughter, just give him a pat on the back...please?

Summer time!

I think it's safe to say that it's summer time, right? And, normally, at this time of the year, everybody likes to enjoy more time outside. I think that by now, everybody is aware of the sunscreen lotion, and the importance of it on your kids little skin. While you are protecting their skin, have you though about their poor little eyes?

It would appear that baby's eyes have less protective pigment than an adult's, so they absorb a lot more harmful ultraviolet radiation. And it doesn't have to be from the sun directly, but also from the reflection of it; on the sand, water and even asphalt. So, just like us, their eyes need to have UV protection sunglasses. And let me tell you that there is a lot of options out there for any kind of price range. Here's a few:
  • Wraparounds without hinges from Julbo for $30
  • My First Shades offer 100-percent UVA and UVB protection. They come with various designs for $15.
  • Kushies' has some scratch-resistant lenses with 100-percent UV protection for $5.

Enjoy your summer, protected! 8-)
