Stickers or band-aid?

Stickers... that is how my daughter calls the bandages. Well, the other day, I was reading thru my magazines, and I came accross the "Ouchies". I really though that my daughter was right when I saw them.

This company, Ouchies, offers kids an arry of adhesive bandages that allow them to show their style and personality. They started with the dad looking for a cool alternative to the boring beige bandages that boring adults use. ;-) They are very affordable ($5/20) and they fit with any kind of personality ;-)

Happy Earth Day!

I have to admit that, when it comes to the "organic world", I'm thinking meanly about food. So, we are trying to eat organic as much as we can afford without breaking the bank. We even started our own garden to help with that. But I never really think about all the products that we are using at home...

The only thing that I did is that I bought an organic laundry detergent for the baby when she was born. And a couple of months ago we were out of ours (grown ups), well, if it's good for her, it's good for me, and why buy two different detergents??? So that is my extent on organic products; pretty sad :-(

Well this morning I read a blog that I want to share with you: http://www.mommygoggles.com/nsf-international-earth-day-tips/#comments. I was amazed about all the simple stuff I can do with products I already have in the house; like water, vinegar, lemon juice ans baking soda. Who knew? Not me obviously! But I will definitely try to do my part and try those tricks from that blog. Maybe you shoudl too!

Happy Earth Day!

Going back to work... good or bad?

I have to admit that I am one of the few lucky moms that had the "luxury" of staying at home with my daughter. She was 6 months old when we realized that we could "afford" to do that. Well, now it's time for mommy to go back to work!

I found a great job, two actually! One M-F and the other on the week-end. Needless to say that my life has taking a whole new direction. Let's put it this way; I've been meaning to write this blog since I was looking for a job, and here I am almost two months later, doing it! (I actually started 2 weeks ago ;-) "Free-time" became something that I don't have anymore. With all the "normal" tasks that need to be done, I feel like I let go of my motherhood. Before, I had the baby with me all the time, so I could justified doing something else (blogging, paper work, laundry, etc) while I was "with" her because I had her all day! Now, my time with her is limited, but so is the time that I have to blog, do my paper work, laundry, etc.

The baby is now 32 months old and the poor kid doesn't have any friends of her age. She has friends, but they are all older! I don't even know if she knows how to interact with kids of her own age. She has been the only kid hanging out with mommy since she is born, but now that I have to go to work, we need somebody to take care of her. Which brings my next blog subject: daycare! I'm not gonna get into it now, but just the idea of sending my daughter to a daycare brought up a whole new set of emotions; good and bad!

So if you would ask me right now (7pm) if we made the right choice for me to go back to work; I would say, yes we did! I'm a people person! I feed from people's energy. And on both jobs, either they are patients or customers, I love helping them and make them laugh. As for the baby, she needs the "social" of the daycare. But if you ask me the same question at 7:30am tomorrow morning, I'm not sure the answer would be the same. The rush of the morning, getting myself and the baby ready... not enjoyable!

I guess it comes down to get into a routine, and get some good quality time with the baby and the hobby. It also helps that we are going toward the summer season, daylight longer at night helps to find activity to do outside. But bottom line is, I missed those days when I was home with the baby, but I also like the feeling of accomplishment by bringing a paycheck at home. I think, overall I'm happy with the decision that we made!

Interesting products...

For a long time now, I've been meaning to do this. I am lucky enough to receive some retailer magazine (because of the business). Which means that I often see brand new products, recalls, what's hot, etc... Well, I decided to share my discoveries.

My first product is "The Mommy Hook":

I've seen the hook for the first time when I had a booth at one of the "Just Between Friends Sale". And for that event, the hook was coming very handy. It's a big hook that you attach to your stroller (or shopping cart) and then you can hook shopping bags into it. I talked to the person that had it, and she said it was amazing! So for all the shoppers out there that needs an extra hand, that might be your answer. They retail for $8, and here the link if you are interested: The Mommy Hook.
